Scheduling June

For Kiyotsune (29 June 2013), we are providing explanatory materials in various language, including Italian, of course! I am now working on a partial translation of the play from Japanese (quite an endeavour for someone who is far from being a translator of classical Japanese!)

Noh club

It seems that the Kyoto university Noh theatre club is getting ready for the new term. As far as Noh is concerned, Kanze, Kongo and Hosho school are represented. Interesting graphic, very ‘kyodaiesque’…

Fuchi Furai

My teacher wrote this for me the other day. It means something like ‘doesn’t know, doesn’t come’. Could it be the slogan for a new advertising campaign?

Noh rooms

The Yamatoya in Matsuyama is a Noh-themed hotel. It has noh paintings and masks all over and each room has a noh-related name!

Look what came through the mail today!

The 1978 special issue of the magazine Taiyō dedicated to Noh theatre, edited by Omote Akira. Wonders of the second hand books market in Japan. Mint condition, of course.
